Take the problems to God
Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.
Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #292 I Could Not Do Without Thee (#415 in previous version)
After having been separated from God, people suffer from a variety of problems. The root of the problem lies in the fact that we have become separated from God, but the shades of the problem vary according to the person, their age, their circumstances, and their position in society. The persistent problems and harmful habits that we can’t seem to break free from through our own efforts hinder our enjoyment of the Gospel and even serve as stumbling blocks in the relationships that we have with others. This is what we call a spiritual problem. What must we do about the spiritual problems that have taken root inside of us?
1. The problem begins from the family
The majority of problems begin from the family. The child born from a couple that is separated from God is born with the exact same spiritual state of the parents. For families that have worshiped idols for several generations as well as families with a shaman background, the problems are even more severe. Also, the customs and traditions of each family line invisibly influence the life of every individual, as it becomes instilled in them. We even see many cases where illnesses, depression, and insomnia are passed down to the children, and there are also family lines that face ongoing financial difficulties.
2. The family must receive healing
Most of the hardships that we face have come from our family. There is a particular spiritual atmosphere to each family. Some families make it a habit to ridicule and condemn others, other families are connected by constant indulgence and disinterest. Still others may appear peaceful at first glance, only to be riddled by mishaps, accidents, and unexpected sufferings. If the family is not healed together, you cannot address these spiritual problems properly. We must take time to hear the Word, receive grace, and reflect on ourselves. Only then will those persistent scars begin to get restored.
3. We must have the correct start, beginning with the roots
It is imperative that we fix the problem and bring comfort to the heart that is in disarray. However, enjoying the Gospel and evangelism is all the more important. Though we do need to align our direction with the problem itself, if we enjoy the Gospel deeply and abundantly, our souls will gain strength and our heart and thoughts will become healthy. Naturally, our problems will begin to be resolved, and we will also gain the wisdom to solve problems that we are faced with. Sustain your health through physical exercise, bring peace to your heart with deep breathing, and confirm the power of the Word through prayer.
