How can we restore the Gospel?
Nehemiah 1:1~11 “They are your servants and your people, whom you redeemed by your great strength and your mighty hand. O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name. Give your servant success today by granting him favor in the presence of this man.” I was cupbearer to the king. (10~11)

Israel insisted on the idea of God’s elect and did not deliver the Gospel to other people; in each and every age they lost hold of the covenant of the Messiah that the Christ would come and fell into idolatry. As a result, Assyria and Babylon invaded Israel and they became slaves and captives and were put under great sufferings. Knowing this, Nehemiah helped the Israelites restore the covenant of God. What must we do to restore the Gospel in this age that the forces of darkness have seized?
1. We must restore the temple
The temple is a place where we receive the blessings that God has prepared for those who have the Gospel. God commanded Moses to build the tabernacle wherever they went, and David dedicated his entire life to preparing the building of the temple and received great blessings. Nehemiah rebuilt the temple that had once been destroyed in order to restore the covenant of Israel. Restoring the temple signifies placing the Word of God in our center. God allows the answers of saving the age through the temple where the Word, prayer and evangelism are restored, the worship is restored, and the covenant is relayed to future generations.
2. When we restore the covenant, the field where we are will be restored
When we deeply meditate on the Word of God and pray first, the Word will be placed in our hearts and we will live the Gospel-centered life. When our spiritual state changes, this Gospel will naturally be relayed in the field where we are. Although Nehemiah was taken to Babylon as a royal personnel, he enjoyed the Gospel and did his best in what he was entrusted with and moved the heart of the king of Babylon. We must restore the covenant first and foremost. When we live by the standards of God’s Word, God will display His power before the regions, nations and the world through us.
3. We will have victory without fighting
Those who have the Gospel may face persecutions and difficulties. However, those who enjoy the true Gospel have no need to fight with the world. We will face limitations if we try to overcome the world with our own strength. God’s power, however, can transcend man’s power and the world. If we just grab hold of the Gospel that God has given to us before fame, power, money and ability, we can have complete victory with prayer even without fighting the world.
