Covenant that must be relayed to our descendants
2 Timothy 3:1~17 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. (14~15)
Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #516 We’ve a Story to Tell the Nations (#265 in previous version)
We live in a spiritual warfare where we have to win the battle against the forces of darkness. The trials which constantly discourage us are increasing all the time and the passing words of comfort thrown at us are not really helpful in the warfare. The people who were obedient to the Word and were triumphant amidst their suffering were the people who faithfully grabbed hold of the covenant with God. Then what is this covenant?
1. The covenant that Moses realized
Born into the house of Levite as the figure that will fulfill God’s covenant, Moses was raised by the royal family of the Pharaoh of Egypt in accordance to God’s specific plan. He learned the Word of God from his birth mother and at the palace, he learned academics. God allowed Moses from early on to learn God’s ways in conjunction with learning the knowledge of the world so that God could use Moses as a leader. In order for us to be utilized as God’s instrument, such as Moses was, we have to be deeply rooted in the covenant from an early age.
2. The covenant that David held onto
God protected David from the lions and the beasts of the field and he granted David victory against Goliath. David realized God’s desire from an early age and he was spiritually fortified through deep meditation and prayer. He also firmly held onto the covenant that God made him into a leader and he wanted to build the temple. We should teach the children and future generations to have the correct Gospel and essence of prayer so that they can have the faith and strength to resist the world.
3. The covenant that Joseph had assurance in
Joseph was not angry toward God for his mother’s death or his brothers’ wrath against him or for the fact that he was sold into slavery. Even amidst his trials as a slave and the temptations that came with it, his faith was not shaken and he was confident and patient for God’s plans to be realized. The reason why Joseph was able to triumph through all the hardships that he had faced was because he embraced God’s covenant from early years. Likewise, the most important priority for us is to plant the seed of the covenant that Moses, David, and Joseph held onto to our next generations.
-The mystery of the Gospel should be taught to the younger generations so that God’s Word and prayer can be relayed. Pray so that the covenant can be deeply rooted in our hearts and our minds. Meditate on how we can be utilized to save this generation in this Remnant movement. Core Training Message / 2012.3.17
