Things we need to realize for evangelism
Philippians 3:1~20 Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do. (17)
Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #94 I’d Rather Have Jesus (#102 in previous version)
Despite living in an already abundant world, man continuously longs for something better, and something more. If the world is indeed a wonderful place to live, only good things should happen. But instead, the world is becoming increasingly depraved, and problems that cannot be solved with science or scholastics are increasing daily. As people who know the mystery of evangelism, what should we know?
1. What is the Gospel?
The reason Jesus Christ came to this earth was to give life to mankind who had no choice but to be cursed into destruction, and to destroy the work of the devil by fulfilling the kingdom of God. The Gospel is mankind being removed from Satan’s ownership and from the path of destruction to the path of life, and our identities being changed into that of a child of God and being liberated from the curses and disasters that were a consequence of the powers of sin and hell.
2. What does the Bible tell us?
“For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God,” (Romans 8:2) man was destined for destruction after leaving God. But, “among those who received him, for those who believed in his name, He gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12).” At this time, God sent us Jesus Christ to open the way for salvation. When we believe in Christ and become children of God, the Holy Spirit will work within us, guide us, know all our weaknesses, and work with the filling of the Holy Spirit, and send His heavenly angels to open the doors of answers wherever we go. At this time, the forces of darkness will be shattered. This is the mystery of the Gospel as explained in the Bible.
3. Why did He call evangelists?
God has called us as evangelists. But if we do not know the reason why, we will lose hold of many answers. God’s greatest desire is to save those who are still in the path of destruction after having left Him. The purpose of our lives must be to save the descendants who are still thirsty in this land. But because we cannot do this by our own strength, God commanded us to receive the filling of the Holy Spirit. We must receive God-given strength, and help our posterity to not receive any suffering from parental problems.
