Hold on to the lifelong covenant!
1 Samuel 16:1~13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came upon David in power. Samuel then went to Ramah. (13)

After realizing the Gospel, many people want to follow God’s plan, but do not know how to realistically prepare for this. After David was anointed by Samuel, he started with the little things in order to be used for the works which God had in store for him. He did his best in tending the sheep, he gave thanks to God for everything and glorified God through praise. He also cultivated his spiritual strength and knowledge and equipped himself with skill. What is the Word you must hold on to as you look at the answers David received?
1. God’s Spirit came upon David
David did not ask God what he needed to do. When God’s Spirit came upon David, David simply put all his energy into enjoying the Gospel. Prior to thinking about what you must do, the first thing is to meditate deeply on God’s Word. As you meditate on the Word, thanksgiving is restored, and when you confess that thanksgiving to God, you can see the direction you need to take as well as what you need to do right now. If you uncover God’s plan for you, you will not be shaken by any problem.
2. After hearing the mystery of the Ark of the Covenant, David held on to that as his lifelong prayer topic
David heard the meaning of the Ark of the Covenant from Samuel. Not knowing the importance of the Ark of the Covenant, the Israelites took the Ark of the Covenant out into the battlefield where it was captured by the Philistines. Disaster not only came upon the Israelites who lost the Ark of the Covenant but on the Philistines as well. The Israelites who were unaware of the meaning of the Ark of the Covenant and David who saw that age were able to reclaim the Ark of the Covenant and held on to the covenant to build the temple which would house the Ark of the Covenant.
3. David held on to the covenant of constructing the temple
Samuel relayed the mystery of the Ark of the Covenant to David and probably told him about the temple, which would house the Ark of the Covenant and be the place where all the people could come to worship together. When David placed this covenant in his heart, the Spirit of God came upon him in power. Through praise, David overcame the forces of darkness and wholeheartedly gave his entire life to constructing the temple to house the Ark of the Covenant. God revealed His power to David who held on to the covenant of the construction of the temple.
