Restore your faith
Joshua 3:11~13 Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.” (5)
Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #453 More About Jesus Would I Know (#506 in previous version)
The nature that we have acquired when we are young and has become instilled in our bodies doesn’t change even in old age. With the passage of time, it is manifested in various ways, and it slowly works to fell our lifestyles. We meet many people every day, and we need to work and study. However, the bad habits that have become our nature from early on in our lives cannot get fixed so easily. Then, if we were to add faithlessness to our long-enduring bad natures, what would become of our lives? Just like in today’s passage, what kind of faith must we restore when we are faced with an important problem?
1. Know the reason why you must cross the Jordan River
As the Israelites lived their lives in Egypt, the nature of unbelief and their belittling thoughts that blamed God inevitably developed and served as channels for Satan to use in deceiving them. God allowed the Israelites, who were suffering from their slave natures and the nature of the wilderness, to experience the authority of crossing the Jordan River.
2. Possess the power of prayer
If you are unaware of the spiritual mystery and fact that God is with you and that Satan uses his authority to bring suffering to people, then when a problem arises you will be unable to solve it. Without knowing the fundamental reason and source of the problem of the family line that is within you, you will be bound by the forces of darkness and unbelief will build upon itself. Man was separated from God and under the hand of Satan; however, in the name of Jesus Christ all the forces of the devil are broken. God desires for His children who have received salvation to save the nations of the world through the strength that He gives. Through the prayer of focusing on God, we can gain the strength to save the world.
3. Experience the power of God
In the midst of the tiring wilderness, amongst the Israelites there were those who believed in the power of God and those who did not. Those without faith complained to God and lived in misery, but Moses, Joshua, and Caleb were figures who discovered God’s plan and experienced His authority. If you are suffering and lacking strength, then have a time of prayer to experience the power of God. When you experience the power of God, the unbelief of your family and family line will be broken down.
- Examine whether or not you have a time of prayer to experience the power of God within your life, and meditate to restore the upright faith God has given to you. Immanuel Church Sunday Worship 2nd Service / 2012.1.15
