People who struggle mightily to receive answers or live for their own benefit have a tendency to measure everything by their own standards. At times, they have the misconception that their own thoughts are God-given answers. In particular, there are many people who have no idea whether their own words, actions, or works are beneficial to the evangelism movement, or whether the God-given covenant is a unique answer. What must the evangelists pray for in order to see the world with the eyes of the Gospel and receive the answers God desires for us?
1. We must pray while looking to the field
We will see God’s plans and discover the disciples the moment we let go of our own thoughts. When Peter, who confessed that Jesus was the Christ, finally had the assurance that he was a child of God, he was able to see the crippled man whom he had never before taken into consideration, and experienced the miracle of healing him. When the seemingly powerless and insignificant Early Church prayed for the field, the work of the Holy Spirit swept over them like fire and wind.
2. We must pray for the kingdom of God to come
When faced with a crisis or important problems in life, have you ever questioned what God really wants? Do you know how the Early Church conquered the entire world? Have you ever given a thought to the reasons behind sufferings for what seems to be no reason at all? What kind of answer can we give to those who are lost and wandering, riddled with scars? As an evangelist, we must be able to answer these above questions. When the kingdom of God comes upon us, everything will come to life.
3. We must pray for the filling of the Holy Spirit.
Even if we know Jesus Christ, if we lack the assurance that God is with us, we will undulate moment by moment. The filling of the Holy Spirit means that God is our Lord, that He governs over us, and that I am filled with the Holy Spirit. The Early Church members did not put their own wants first, and sought to fulfill God’s desires, and consequently, all received the filling of the Holy Spirit and even opened the doors of evangelism. Evangelism disciples will have success if they realistically enjoy Christ in their lives.
- Examine the problems surrounding both yourself and the field, let go of your anxious heart and instead be led by the Holy Spirit. Begin praying in order for the works of evangelism to arise in the field and for the kingdom of God to be established. Study of Evangelism Message / 2011.12.17
