The life of the evangelist is the life of daily enjoying and being happy with God’s Word, prayer of enjoying God, and evangelism of saving lives. God leads those who live the life of the evangelist by the Holy Spirit and wherever they go, He mobilizes the heavenly armies, breaks down the forces of darkness, and enables the kingdom of God to come upon them. Evangelists who enjoy these blessings must know that God has already given these things to them and grab hold of these things. Then what are the things that God has already given to us who have the Gospel?
1. Blessing of ‘only’
Evangelists must not worry about anything but grab hold of only Christ, only the kingdom of God, and only the Holy Spirit. As we can see from today’s Scripture reading, these are the three important things that the Early Church held onto. In these three things are hidden everything. We only need to devote ourselves to holding to these three things and praying (Acts 1:14). Those who receive the blessings that God gives must be able to find all things through their faith of ‘only.’
2. Path of blessing
There is the path of blessing that God gives to evangelists. All problems are answers and the path of blessings. If we are bound by worries, fear, and unbelief, then we will never know that problems are blessings. Even if we change our thinking just a little inside the Gospel, we can discover God’s important plan. Though Paul the evangelist went to prison, he gave thanks. It was because he had the reason to overcome the persecutions from the Jews and stand before Caesar. It wasn’t that Joseph met with problems in prison but that he was able to fulfill God’s plan by meeting with politicians there. Evangelists must cast aside their unbelief and grab hold of the fact that God has given them the unique blessing as their covenant.
3. Waiting for God
All evangelists need to do is not to worry about anything but to enjoy God’s power and wait for God’s time schedule. How can we enjoy God’s power? We just need to offer God ten minutes a day. Set aside the most comfortable time of the day and concentrate on God in order to receive the filling of the Holy Spirit. It is important to wait for God’s time schedule as we concentrate on God and pray. In fact, as we are waiting, we will receive all of our answers.
- Do you have any problems, worries, or unbelief? What are the things that God has already given to you? Grab hold of these things and enter into prayer. Enjoy the blessing of waiting for God’s time schedule. Japan Tokyo Conference Lecture 1 / 2011.10.4
