The Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt
Leviticus 26:3~13 I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people. I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt so that you would no longer be slaves to the Egyptians; I broke the bars of your yoke and enabled you to walk with heads held high. (12~13)
Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #289 What a Wonderful Change (#138 in previous version)
All people move with motives. Although good motives are connected with the blessing and answer of saving people, the wrong motives make our eyes dim, are connected with spiritual problems and make us fall into curses. We must also change our motive to worship and then we will receive answers. Satan is attacking us even now in order to destroy us. However, blessings and curses are in God’s hands. How can we find the true happiness and blessings of enjoying God?
1. Covenant – ‘I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt’
We must grab hold of the covenant God gives. The fact that the Israelites were delivered from Egypt means that they were set free from the slavery of sin, Satan and hell. For the sake of this, Christ bore the cross, and gave us the blood covenant (Exodus 3:18, 1 Corinthians 1:18). After the exodus, God poured down the miracles of the three feasts while they were on the path of the wilderness. They are the Passover by which the forces of darkness cannot bother us, the Pentecost which is the mystery of the filling of the Holy Spirit, and the Feast of Ingathering which is the mystery of heaven. If we grab hold of this covenant, the works of God begin.
2. The evidence of the covenant
We must grab hold of this covenant as the evidence of eternal promise. This is the covenant given to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Lamentations 26:42), the covenant given that when they are in the land of their enemies, God will not reject them (Lamentations 26:44), and the covenant by which Moses was called and established on Mount Sinai (Lamentations 26:46). God has led our lives until now, and this evidence will continue in our lives. When we look at the Word, world and myself with the eyes of the Gospel, we will discover this evidence.
3. The faith of believing in the covenant
When we believe that the Word of God is the covenant given to us, blessings become ours, and God says that He will keep His covenant with us in verse 9. Unbeknownst to the Israelites themselves, they were not able to come out from the disposition of Egypt, the disposition of slavery and the disposition of the wilderness. If you discard this and choose faith, you receive answers. Because of one individual, John Wanamaker, the American shopping malls were saved; because of one individual, George Washington, a nation was saved; because of the faith that Abraham Lincoln had kept from a young age, the slaves were set free and the nation was saved. The people of faith who receive answers will ultimately be placed in the seat of the summit that saves the world.
- What is the covenant given to me? What is the evidence that I have grabbed hold of by faith? Regarding our time schedule of the future that will be fulfilled, try making your today into the greatest day.
