True vessel preparation
Psalms 23:1~6 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
your rod and your staff, they comfort me. (4)
Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #436 Savior Again to Thy Dear Name (#493 in previous version)
God uses people who are prepared. It took 15 years for David to become the king after being anointed as the king. David experienced difficult hardships, loneliness and crises of life that were difficult to endure for a long period of time. However, it was a precious time that enabled David to become equipped with a character and skills fit for a king. A difficult environment is the greatest time to prepare your true vessel.
1. Spiritual things and preparation of a sense of specialty
David believed he would become king and thoroughly prepared for it. As he was sure through faith that God looks at the heart, before he became king, he considered the heart of God, and prayed that God’s heart would become his own. When people were shaking in fear upon seeing Goliath, David triumphed with the faith and skill he had prepared on a daily basis.
2. Preparation through suffering
Even in difficult times, David did not lose faith. David triumphed in war, and as a result, King Saul considered David to be a thorn in his eye and tried to kill him. As a result, his circumstance became that of a runaway. Even though he became a runaway, David did not lose his faith and did not counter King Saul. Instead, when King Saul died, he lamented for him and was sincerely sorrowful about his death. David, who faced hardship, was prepared as a person with the tolerance to love even enemies.
3. True vessel preparation
We must make our difficult family environments and backgrounds into a platform and the greatest opportunity. When a problem arises, grab hold of the covenant from the lowest place, prepare your talent, and equip yourself with spiritual strength. If you have hardship, you must gain strength while concentrating on the Word of God during the time of worship. We must start prayer 24 hours a day and have the preparation of a vessel large enough to embrace our enemies.
- The hardships you are facing right now are God’s outstretched hand to prepare a large vessel. Like David, from the lowest place with the highest dream meditate upon how you will prepare a true vessel.
