A person to stop the age of church destruction
Romans 16:23 Gaius, whose hospitality I and the whole church here enjoy, sends you his greetings. Erastus, who is the city’s director of public works, and our brother Quartus send you their greetings.
Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #325 Living for Jesus, Oh, What Peace (#359 in previous version)
An age of destruction has begun. But will God just stand by and watch the churches being destroyed? Absolutely not. Although God may give up everything, His glory will never be taken from Him. He will not stand still as the churches crumble and the world belittles the churches. Hence, disasters and wars arise. It is the same with every age. We must bring an end to the age of church destruction. Take a closer look at the Word through Gaius, the topic of today’s passage.
1. One who enjoys what he has
Gaius was undoubtedly a person who received the Gospel from the very beginning of the Early Church. Gaius deeply enjoyed the Word of Jesus Christ as recorded in Acts 1:1~8. He understood and enjoyed that Jesus is the Christ, the kingdom of God which transforms the field, and the filling of the Holy Spirit that makes all things possible. Because you know the answer, your eyes to see problems, people and the world will change. Also, when crises strike, you will be capable of overcoming boldly. If you possess the Gospel and enjoy it continuously, it will be connected to great answers. Gaius was within these answers.
2. One who shares what he has
Gaius did not simply possess and enjoy the Gospel God gave him. He was a person who shared the Gospel, too. One day, Gaius confessed that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God, and from that moment on, he aided Apostles John and Paul until the very end and participated in spreading the Gospel. He established churches in many regions and raised countless disciples.
3. One who gives everything
It is recorded that Gaius showed hospitality to the evangelist Paul and the entire church. He deeply enjoyed the Gospel he received from God and shared this Gospel wholeheartedly. Moreover, he was a person who gave everything he had to others. Gaius shared his belongings with all the people, evangelists and leaders who had difficult lives. If we enjoy the things God gave us 24 hours a day and are happy, we can give the answer of evangelism to the church and lay people. Like Gaius, we can stop the age of church destruction, and if we share God’s answers in this age, we will know the mystery.
- Set up a plan to enjoy the Gospel that God gave you for 24 hours a day. Then deeply meditate on how you can share this Gospel and how you can serve the church and lay people with the answer of evangelism.
