The fight in which the victory is certain
Ephesians 6:10~20 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. (12~13)
Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #502 Heralds of Light (#259 in previous version)
The entire world church is facing a great crisis. Church membership is dwindling, and the majority of the churches are facing severe financial conflicts. Not only that, church members are facing dire straits and problems. How can we save the churches and the church members who are facing great crises? Powerless, impoverished people gathered together in the Early Church, and they faced external conflicts in the form of the Roman Empire and other religious forces that attempted to persecute and eliminate the Early Church. However, the Early Church persevered and emerged victorious. Once we realize the reason that guaranteed the Early Church its victory, we too can overcome the problems in ourselves and the church.
1. Do not lose hold of what you have already received.
We must always remember the power of salvation. God has given His children divine blessings. When the spirit of revelation comes upon us, we will understand God’s abiding with us, and when the eyes of our hearts are opened, we will come to know the hope to which He has called us. We will also realize His power through faith after coming to understand the abundance of God’s work. This is the amazing blessing that lies within salvation. When we do not know salvation, our Christian journey becomes increasingly difficult. However, when we understand the power of salvation, we will understand in turn how important evangelism and missions truly are, and consequently see answers in the field.
2. Do not be deceived by Satan’s strategies.
Satan deceives us with constant thoughts of ‘I can’t do this. It is not going to take place for me or my church.’ Satan uses his wily plots to make us oblivious to the breadth of the blessings we have received in salvation and instead makes the world seem so daunting, and the people who have succeeded in it great. He bides his time until we have fallen into unbelief to shoot his flame-tipped arrows. This is Satan’s strategy. We live but one life; it is too late for regrets once we are deceived by Satan. That is why we must always keep in mind what we have received and not be deceived by Satan.
3. Arm yourself spiritually.
With what must we arm ourselves? God tells us to clothe ourselves in the full armor of God. We must wear the helmet of salvation as befits our station as children of God with salvation. The breastplate of righteousness signifies our constant thanksgiving. The belt of truth is holding on to the daily Word. The shoes of the Gospel refer to the life of the evangelist. And in each hand, we must hold on to the shield of faith and the sword of the Word. When we rise within the Gospel with spiritual strength, we will have absolute success.
- God has given everything to His children; yet, we continue to fall into unbelief. We must always have the mystery of connecting with God to prevent being deceived. This is the blessing of praying continuously within the Holy Spirit. Enjoy prayer.
