The scattered ones and the ones who remain
Haggai 2:1~9 “Who of you is left who saw this house in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Does it not seem to you like nothing?” (3)
Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #428 There’s Sunshine in My Soul Today (#488 in previous version)
The scattered ones (Diaspora) and the ones left behind are the ones who will receive the greatest answers. The scattered ones (Diaspora) means “exiled” in Greek. It refers to the Jewish people who have been scattered among the Gentiles due to the fall of their nation. Those who remain (Remnants) are the ones who will not die and survive until the end. It refers to the ones God has left for the sake of the restoration of Israel just liked He promised, when God’s people could not avoid disaster and destruction due to sin and idolatry. What is the answer that the scattered ones and the ones who have been left behind give to us?
1. Scattered ones (Diaspora)
The scattered ones are those who have encountered miserable circumstances. When you look at it with the eyes of the Gospel, the reason for scattering them is to witness the Gospel. They are the ones who will receive the most answers for witnessing the Gospel. Even the Early Church was unable to draw a picture of missions, and the scattered ones who came together with the covenant after Stephen’s death was the Antioch Church. We need to remember that it is through these people that the Gospel spread throughout Macedonia and all of Europe. Although suffering, problems, and conflicts may come due to the scattering, we need to have the pure faith that Christ is with us and is our Lord, and therefore all problems have been finished and He has prepared me for the sake of witnessing the Gospel. We just need to pray that God’s kingdom will be established where we are to make witnessing the Gospel into a platform and for God’s power to be revealed so that we can spread the Gospel.
2. Ones who remain (Remnant)
The youth and young children are not the only Remnants. In spiritual context, it means the ones who remain to save the age and nation. Those who remain start from the family. That is why the family must receive the blessing of the Mission Home. Marriage is knowing spiritual facts correctly, serving each other, and forming a family that gives joy to God. If you become parents who serve through prayer, you can raise your children’s foundation firmly in the covenant and spiritual blessings. If your children’s foundation is based on the covenant, then an important meeting will begin. The vessel to conquer the fields will be shaped through the meeting with parents and evangelists. Habits are formed and directions are chosen through these basics. If the correct vessel is prepared for the future, then they will be victorious in the world.
