Grain offering
Leviticus 6:14~23 The priest is to take a handful of fine flour and oil, together with all the incense on the grain offering, and burn the memorial portion on the altar as an aroma pleasing to the Lord. Aaron and his sons shall eat the rest of it, but it is to be eaten without yeast in a holy place; they are to eat it in the courtyard of the Tent of Meeting. (15~16)
Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #86 Oh, the Best Friend to Have (#86 in previous version)
The method to examine your spiritual state is looking to see whether you have true thanksgiving. The lifestyle of true thanksgiving is important because you can receive correct answers through that. On the contrary, having no thanksgiving is a serious state. The grain offering is a type of offering in which you give grain to the Lord. It is the worship through which you acknowledge God who is the lord of your life. Grain has an important physical and financial meaning to children of God who have been born again through the covenant of blood. Giving the most important thing I have is our confession of faith.
1. Thanksgiving for healing and restoration
Thanksgiving is the best healing medicine for your spiritual illness or emotional problem. The 7 Remnants were able to make problems into platforms and receive strength because they restored thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is the door to go forward to God and the way to set your direction. You can give thanks even when you have no power to do things and when you are in circumstances that do not work out. Just like Paul’s confession, God’s mighty hand holds even more firmly on to me when I am weak and lacking (2 Corinthians 12:10). If you can give thanks regarding suffering for the Gospel, then you will enjoy true answers and blessings of healing like the Early Church.
2. Thanksgiving about salvation
Thanksgiving among all thanksgiving is that of salvation. Christ has fulfilled everything on the cross (John 19:30). How does the cross of 2,000 years ago influence my life today? We became children of God because of Christ who died on the cross. He saves us when we believe and is with us now through the Holy Spirit. We need to restore the overwhelming gratefulness for salvation every day. This is the life of the evangelist.
3. Thanksgiving about position and commission
God has called you as His child. Also, He has given us positions and commission for the sake of the Gospel, church, and future generations. He has called us as pastors, lay leaders, parents, family ministry workers, field ministry workers, and as Remnants who will receive answers in the future. When you look at yourself with the eyes of true thanksgiving, you can confirm God’s calling and commission. When you go to the field knowing your identity, you will become the evangelist who saves the world.
- Check whether you have true thanksgiving in your life. Do you have overwhelming thanksgiving for salvation? Try writing an evangelist’s diary so that thanksgiving for your calling may be restored every time you worship.
