Those who know the work done by God
Joshua 24:29~33 Israel served the Lord throughout the lifetime of Joshua and of the elders who outlived him and who had experienced everything the Lord had done for Israel. (31)
Hymn for Scheduled Worship: Korean/English Hymnal #615 The One who Has Done Great Works
We have been told, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.” Whenever we give Sunday worship, or do scheduled prayer, there is a need to experiment with this scientifically. When you do scheduled prayer, meditate upon the Holy Spirit who works upon you. Pray for the Holy Spirit to work from top to bottom, in your heart, mind, ideology, soul, all fields and in this place today. At this time, God will absolutely send down His heavenly angels to work. Defeat the forces of darkness and unbelief with the power of the name of Jesus Christ. As we continue to give this prayer in the midst of our Sunday worship, works worth testifying will arise. A witness to this was Joshua.
1. Blessings Joshua enjoyed
As God created the entire universe, He called human beings as the main characters (Genesis 1:1~13). However, mankind was tempted by Satan, sinned, and left God. God resolved to save mankind, who had been designated as the recipient of the greatest blessings, long before creation (Ephesians 1:4). He prepared everything perfectly for us (Philemon 1:15). Everything that happens to us is to come together to form God’s purpose (Ephesians 3:2). God absolutely possesses a time schedule (Acts 13:48). We call this God’s absolute sovereignty. Children of God who are in God’s sovereignty can never fail. Joshua was well aware of this mystery of blessings.
2. The work done by God
From Exodus to the conquest of Canaan, God raised for the Israelites 10 miracles, gave them the blessing of the 3 feasts, split the Jordan River, crumbled down the city of Jericho, and led the Israelites to emerge victoriously from all battles. But the common thread tying all these works together is that the Israelites won without having to fight a single battle. When the Amorite allied forces lay siege, God rained hail and led the Israelites to certain victory. When children of God with salvation delve deeply into the blessing of God, they will emerge victorious without having to fight a single battle themselves.
3. A person who knows the work of God
Simply put, a person who knows the work of God refers to someone who has seen it, possessed it, or enjoys it. Joshua saw the work of salvation, knew the identity and authority of a child of God, received God-given power through daily Word, prayer and evangelism, and was a witness to God’s miracles. Although Joshua himself may have passed on, the work of God is still continued through us today.
- How will you enjoy the blessing of a child of God? Even if we enjoy just a little, the world and the field will be changed completely.
