Eyes of evangelists
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #421 I am Thine, O Lord, I Have Heard Thy Voice (#219 in previous version)
God called us as evangelists to save others and all nations. What is more important than answers coming to us is God’s works taking place in the field. What must we do so that God’s works are fulfilled in the life of the evangelist? There are a few things that evangelists must see.
1. Those who are prepared
There surely are unbelievers that God has prepared in the steps that we take today. As evangelists we must first open our eyes before we do anything else. Of those who are prepared, there surely are reliable men and disciples. When we look more closely, there are also committed workers who are prepared. God is fully in charge of all this. If we are indeed evangelists, we must ask ourselves, ‘Will the person I meet today be the person that is prepared?’ Then even if we don’t bear any fruit, the Holy Spirit will absolutely be at work in us.
2. God’s perspective
God is in charge of every time schedule for the sake of evangelism. In addition, He has all the guideposts for evangelism. And He has a clear purpose for evangelism. Our lives must be immersed in living the life of the evangelist through today’s Word, prayer and evangelism. If we put into practice today’s Word, prayer and evangelism every day, our lives will perfectly come in alignment with God’s time schedule.
3. God’s method
First, it is by Christ alone (Acts 1:1). Christ is the one who solved all our problems. We have already been set free from the problems in the past. Second, it is by the Holy Spirit alone (Acts 1:8). The future that we must head into from now on is the filling of the Holy Spirit and world evangelization. Third, it is by the kingdom of God (Acts 1:3). That is why what is most important to us is none other than the present. What is between the past and the future is the present. A myriad of things take place in the present. We frequently feel gloomy. There are also times when we feel hopeless. Evangelists may be falsely accused of heresy and persecuted. At times like this, we must not put our standards in our present reality but in God’s kingdom. It means that we must entrust all things to God. This is the blessing that evangelists must enjoy.
- Examine your daily schedule today. Pray for any people that perhaps might have been prepared by God and have precious meetings with people.
