The person of faith that stops the sun and moon
Joshua 10:10~14 So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day. There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the Lord listened to a human being. Surely the Lord was fighting for Israel! (13~14)
Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #96 Jesus is All the World to Me (#93 in previous version)
As we live our lives, there may be big and small problems, as well as unexpected conflicts that arise. We must examine whether or not we are conflicted with pessimistic thoughts in the midst of discouraging events. I must be aware of my nature and tendency in interpersonal relationships. How was Joshua? In the wilderness, he knew God, and through Moses he gained great faith from hearing the covenant. God’s Word had already come upon the evangelist Joshua, and he was an unprecedented and prepared individual with faith to take charge over the promised land.
1. Prayer of holding on to the covenant of Immanuel
In the face of crisis and problems, we may think that we are just powerlessly praying. On the day of engaging in a great war, Joshua prayed boldly before God. He was not driven to pray because he had no other alternative; he knew it was an imperative act to hold on to the covenant and pray before the Almighty God, the living Jehovah. If I acknowledge that God is the Creator and controller of all things, and I discover my priority in all tasks, then I will be able to see the blessings of God. Joshua, who possessed tremendous faith, prayed before the Lord and received the greatest answer of halting the sun and moon in the sky.
2. Prayer that knows God’s plan
It was God’s plan for the Israelites to enter the land of Canaan, after being liberated from Egypt. This promise was relayed from the time of Abraham. This promise was with the Israelites. It was promised that no one would overcome them and that they would be sent to the land in which the Messiah would come. It was a plan that was confirmed through Moses. In the wilderness of Kadesh Barnea, through Moses, the 12 scouts were able to see God’s plan and believed. After the death of Moses, Joshua who pertained to have great faith in God’s accurate plan was set as the next leader. The prayer that is given according to God’s will, will bring answers from never before and never after. There is something we must remember from this. God’s people are individuals who know the spiritual truth. Similar to the physical aspect, there is also a spiritual science. The fact that God answers prayer is a spiritual science of all sciences. Knowing this truth and enjoying this mystery daily through prayer is the life of the evangelist.
- The life of the evangelist that knows and enjoys the spiritual truth is true faith. Through faith in today’s Word and prayer, examine the unbelief that you have.
