A life of living as a witness
Joshua 3:1~13 Giving orders to the people: “When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the Levitical priests carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it. Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before. But keep a distance of about two thousand cubits between you and the ark; do not go near it. (3~4)

How must we proclaim and follow after the Word? The reason we must follow the Word is because we are living lives that we have never lived even once before. The most important thing in our lives is following the Word. If that is the case, it states, “You will know which way to go.” How must we go following the Word?
1. The evidence of the past through the covenant
There was a reason Joshua was able to handle great works. It was because he was a witness who had seen the events that arose when they grabbed hold of the covenant (Exodus 3:18). He experienced the 10 miracles during the Exodus. He even experienced the crossing of the Red Sea, which was the great peak of the Exodus. Although the majority of the Israelite people forgot the past, Joshua grabbed hold of his lifelong evidence.
2. The evidence of today through the covenant
Joshua not only had the evidence of the past, but also the evidence of today. While walking on the path of the wilderness, people did not cease in their complaints and grumbling, but he grabbed hold of the three feasts and the covenant of the tabernacle in that situation. Even when selecting the spies in the wilderness of Kadesh Barnea before entering the land of Canaan, he grabbed hold of the covenant while looking at the land of Canaan, and through today’s evidence, he made a confession of faith before the Israelite people, and received answers as a witness of blessings.
3. The evidence of the future through the covenant
Joshua possessed the evidence of the future to enter the land of Canaan. He experienced that when he grabbed hold of the covenant, the Jordan River split. The fact that they kept a distance when following the Ark of the Covenant has an important spiritual meaning. As we are doing ministry in the church, it is possible to lose that distance from the Word, or while yearning for the Word, fall into disappointment or become discouraged. It says that if you keep a distance from the Word, you will know which way to go. This means that the priests who are going ahead must receive the grace of God first and enjoy that blessing, and those who follow from behind must follow while making spiritual discernments Through the life of Joshua, we must grab hold of today’s Word as the witnesses who possess evidence and as those who enjoyed the blessings of conquering Canaan.
- Am I following the Word, like Joshua, who followed the Ark of the Covenant and received guidance? What are the evidence of my past, present and future that I am grabbing hold of before the covenant of world evangelization?
