What we must see
Matthew 9:35~38 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. (35)
Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #497 I Love to Tell the Story (#274 in previous version)
While children of God are wavering amidst problems, conflicts and worries, many people are suffering and have fallen into disasters because there is no one sharing the Gospel with them and no one giving them the answer. Without the Gospel being preached, golden fishing grounds have turned into blind spots and eventually into disaster zones. Evangelists can give the answer through their life in the field where a number of people are dying. What must we do today?
1. We must do what is necessary.
Rather than doing big and great things, we must do what is absolutely necessary. No one can stop us when we are doing necessary things. No matter how renowned a person may be, he will be alienated if he does unnecessary things. Not doing what is necessary means doing the wrong things. The reason why the evangelism movement is not happening in the field is that most of the people cannot see the important Gospel and have been seized by legalism, humanism, or unhealthy mysticism. In addition, they are grabbing hold of things that are not going to take place. That is why they are seized by egotism, popularity, and “job-first” ideology.
2. There is something that we must see
Wherever Paul went, he went to synagogues, preached the Gospel, and took on the evangelism movement. During that time, synagogues were the golden fishing ground. The golden fishing ground today is the school field where there are the future and next generation. In order to save the school field, school teachers and Sunday school teachers must first gain strength through the Gospel. Only then will students be saved through teachers. Because we did not deliver the Gospel to the golden fishing ground, it immediately turned into blind spots. Simply put, it turned into a place where idolatry, shamans, shamanism and fortunetelling give off great influence. Because we let blind spots alone, they turned into disaster zones. Paul saw Rome as a disaster area and took up the challenge with the Gospel. In order to save disaster zones, we must change the elites. The way to save the elites is for the Remnants who have the Gospel to enter into the elite society and save them.
3. We must be like-minded as God.
Do you feel frustrated when you see people who have yet to receive salvation? Do you feel the same frustration not only for those with spiritual problems but also for the people who are successful and well-off in particular? There are just too many elites in the field who are successful and yet are suffering from spiritual problems without hearing the Gospel. We must by all means save them. This is the heart of God.
- Why did God call us in this time and age? God called us to refresh the spirit of God, to do the works that God desires rather than to do great works. Let us begin anew the life of the evangelist with this commission.
