What does it mean to enjoy the Gospel? Discovering the greatest answers hidden in family problems, national crises, and approaching difficulties is truly enjoying the Gospel. What would be different for the person who truly enjoys the Gospel? In the Scripture, Caleb was a man of the Gospel who was not hindered by problems and was never shaken. Rather, he held firmly on to the covenant and was victorious inside the Gospel. We must discover the mystery of enjoying the Gospel through Caleb, a genuine figure of the Gospel.
1. Caleb who served Moses
Through the leader Moses, Caleb held on to the message of Exodus 13:18 (blood sacrifice) concerning the covenant and entering into the land of Canaan. He witnessed the miracle of the Exodus with Joshua, and experienced the protection and work of God upon the path of the wilderness. When he returned as a scout from Canaan, Caleb relayed a faithful observation. It is okay if my environment and position are difficult. If I am not shaken by my environment and position and hold on to the covenant of the Gospel with faith like Caleb, then I will undoubtedly experience the works of God. Do not attempt to immediately resolve your problems, but enter deeply inside the Gospel and confirm the power of God.
2. Caleb who served Joshua
Joshua and Caleb served Moses together, but after Moses passed away, Joshua became the next leader, while Caleb was called to serve Joshua. It was possible for Caleb to complain about the fairness of these decisions, yet he served Joshua just as he had served Moses. To those who enjoy the Gospel, such petty things like position and merits are of no importance.
3. Caleb who shined the light in the midst of crises
Crises came during the conquest of Canaan. After seeing the hill country of the Anakites, many had cried out that it was impossible to get through, and the leaders had been taken aback and the entire environment shifted to disappointment and forfeit. At that moment, Caleb silenced the people and confessed his faith before Joshua as he recalled the covenant before entering into the land of Canaan. He then stated, “Now give me this hill country.” Because of Caleb, the one person who held on to the covenant, the conquest of Canaan was fulfilled. The life of the evangelist that enjoys the Gospel can save the church and age in the midst of crisis.
