We must ask ourselves the following question. What did the Israelites do to become slaves? What is the reason why God allowed them to become slaves? It is important to have a different set of eyes when a problem comes or there is a hardship. This is because there is a separate plan of God and purpose given to us in the Gospel. Israel had to be at the level of Egypt to do world evangelization. In addition, because the level they had as slaves from hundreds of years of slavery was not enough, God had them experience the wilderness after the exodus. In that wilderness, God had them build the tabernacle, prevented them from putting out the light in the tabernacle, and had them change into the clothes of the priests. Today, God is telling us to fashion a breastpiece of decision on our clothes.
1. Breastpiece of decision
God said to fashion a breastpiece of decision on the garments of the priests. The 12 names and 12 jewels of Israel were embedded in the breastpiece. This refers to the commission of the priests in which they engraved the 12 tribes, that is to say, all the people of God, in their hearts. They went before God with that path and prayer topic in their hearts. In addition, they were regarded as jewels so they would not put out the fire of prayer and the fire of the Gospel. The high priests and priests were able to discover something very important in the message of not putting out the fire. God placed the Urim (light) and Thummim (completeness) in the breastpiece to be used as an instrument to judge the various problems of the Israelites. This is the law by which they saw problems through the insight God gave them and received the guidance of God. This can be compared with the breastplate of righteousness that Paul talks about. Because we, who have received salvation, have received the blessing of the royal priesthood through Christ, we must apply this Word to ourselves.
2. Guidance of the Holy Spirit
When the Israelites lived centered on the tabernacle, there was a blessing that came upon them. If we restore the Holy of Holies, then we will immediately be able to enjoy the blessing of the Ark of the Covenant, the power of God (Aaron’s staff), protection (the jars carrying the manna), and guidance (the stone tablets with the Word inscribed). When the Holy Place is restored, the place of worship, praise and fellowship opens up to us. When the grounds of the tabernacle are restored, the blessing of missions to save the world comes upon us. Receiving the guidance of the Word centered on the church is the most valuable work in our walk of faith. If we restore Christ, who is the true light, the darkness flees and the Holy Spirit of God comes upon that place. We need a separate strength because the land of Canaan must still be conquered, there are still problems to overcome, and a future that will be fulfilled awaits us. Receiving the guidance of the Holy Spirit in the Gospel is the greatest strength in our walk of faith.
