Fellow workers who risked their lives
Romans 16:3~4 Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus. They risked their lives for me. Not only I but all the churches of the Gentiles are grateful to them.

We do not need to fear, even in the face of hardships, because we are children of God. We don’t need to fear because we are within the fulfillment of God’s plan. Looking carefully at the Bible, works arose for all those who staked their lives for the Gospel. There were times when even greater works arose after certain disciples passed away. In this passage, we can see that Priscilla and Aquila, who considered their lives nothing in front of the Gospel, risked their lives. How can we stake our lives for something?
1. The lives of Priscilla and Aquila
In AD 52, Priscilla and Aquila were exiled from Rome (Acts 18:1~4). They were sent out of Rome like refugees, but met the evangelist Paul in Corinth and worked with him as tentmakers. They barely made enough to feed themselves, yet they gave up all their savings as offering for missions. On top of that, they opened their home so that those who passed by could eat and evangelize in comfort (1 Corinthians 16:19). In this way they raised evangelists, one person at a time. Even after the exile from Rome ended, they stayed in Ephesus with committed workers (2 Timothy 4:19), and moved to the region of Aventine, a city in Rome, later. In other words, they returned to evangelize Rome when the time schedule had finally come.
2. They aided all ministers and churches of the Gentiles
How a person spends his or her money is who that person is. Priscilla and Aquila helped all the ministers they met and the churches of the Gentiles. The couple realized that spending money on them was everything. For all the churches of the Gentiles to be grateful means that the couple aided not only Paul, but numerous Remnants and disciples. This is what it means that they risked their lives.
3. Living martyrdom is more significant than dead martyrdom
In some ways, dying is much easier than living. But to live a life as if we have committed martyrdom without actually dying is difficult. What is living martyrdom? Living martyrdom is giving up all your prized possessions for world evangelization. If we know three things properly, we can live this life. This means we know what the Gospel really is and what evangelism and missions truly are. Knowing this, how could we not stake our lives? God granted the greatest finances of their time to this couple, who gave up their lives for the evangelists.
● Forum Topic - People stake their lives to acquire wealth, prestige and power, outside of the Gospel. What about you? All of these things are in Christ, but what heart do you have for Christ, for the Gospel and evangelism?
