The altar
Exodus 27:1~8 The poles are to be inserted into the rings so they will be on two sides of the altar when it is carried. Make the altar hollow, out of boards. It is to be made just as you were shown on the mountain. (7~8)

The Israelites knew that the only thing that had to do after the exodus was enter into the promised land of Canaan. But on their way there, they continued to face problems and conflicts and fell into deep and bitter resentment. In the face of such conflicts, the first thing the Israelites had to understand was that they had to go through the wilderness in order to arrive at Canaan. There isn’t a lot of water in the wilderness, and it gets extremely cold at night. Does this mean that we have to grit our teeth and endure all of our sufferings? Today’s Scripture comes from the Word God spoke to His people.
1. Raise an altar
God told the Israelites to build an altar. What does this signify? It means that we must let go of everything in the wilderness, hold on to God, and be strong; not by our own power, but by receiving the power of God. The 7 Remnants, who were not dismayed in any circumstances, enjoyed the fact that God was with them in their lives. It is through the altar- that is, worship- that we can properly enjoy this power. Worship is the time in which we can fully enjoy God, who is with us. Satan attempts to wrench away the blessing of worship through various machinations, but God seeks a worshiper who is even now looking to Him.
2. Raise an altar of burnt offering
Raising an altar for burnt sacrifices signifies the necessity of realizing the Gospel. There is no way to solve the problem of our sin other than through the power of the blood of Jesus Christ, the blood of the lamb. Oftentimes, when people give worship, they do not know the power of Jesus Christ and give worship for the sake of things other than the mystery of the power of the blood. The Israelites lost hold of the Gospel in the wilderness. This is the same reason why the Early Church devolved into the Medieval Church and decayed, and this is also the strategy Satan uses to defeat the churches of the world. God takes pleasure in the worship of a person who accurately knows the Gospel of Christ. Our power and life lie solely in Jesus.
3. Make a ring in each of the four corners
Such rings are necessary when we are moving something; God’s command to the Israelites to make such rings is also a message to us telling us to relay the power of God to others. We must not enjoy this solely within the tabernacle, but also enjoy it in our academic pursuits, businesses and families. If we take our problems and conflicts into the Gospel, God will undoubtedly bestow new grace upon us.
