On the path towards the land of Canaan, God had the Israelites who left Egypt and passed through the wilderness experience the power of God and miracles. However, the Israelites who had lost hold of one thing suffered in the wilderness and lost hold of a countless number of blessings. That one thing was true thanksgiving. Our salvation cannot be taken away from us. However, if we do not have true thanksgiving, all the blessings of salvation will be completely taken away from us. Paul was an evangelist with the highest level of thanksgiving inside the Gospel. Paul faced suffering because of the Gospel, was thankful to be inside God’s greatest plan, which is evangelism, and gave true thanksgiving for his weaknesses. What is the thanksgiving that we, who are evangelists, must restore today?
1. Thanksgiving for being delivered from disasters (2 Timothy 2:1)
If we are not inside the Gospel, our past unconditionally becomes a platform for disasters. Even though we try our best to live our lives, our today without the Gospel and thanksgiving remains as a platform for future disasters. Our future that has lost the Gospel and thanksgiving turns into disasters for the future generations. However, God brought us inside Christ and set us free from all disasters. This is why we must have true thanksgiving.
2. Thanksgiving for true discovery (2 Timothy 2:2)
What we see is different according to what we possess. We are children of God who possess the Gospel. What must we discover? We must discover that everything is inside of the Gospel and that everything is within the prayer that enjoys the Gospel. Furthermore, we must discover that everything is inside evangelism, including cultural conquest and the future. If we discover this blessing in sincerity, we will have the restoration of true thanksgiving.
3. Thanksgiving for being entrusted with true ministry (2 Timothy 2:3~7)
There is an even more surprising fact. All people who have the Gospel have been saved. However, there are people who have been prepared separately for evangelism. We must be truly thankful for being called as main figures and evangelists for world evangelization. In each age, there is a unique task that God has given to the evangelists who will evangelize. The greatest commission of the spiritual soldier who will fight the spiritual fight, the athlete who will fight the good fight, and the farmer who will save many people has been given to us. Though we are weak and lacking, we must be truly thankful that we’ve been called for God’s work. We must become transporters of thanksgiving in the future. In addition, we must make the resolution right now that we will find the greatest thanksgiving inside all problems, worries and events.
