We need light to illuminate the darkness. Darkness came upon all people after the event of Genesis 3. This darkness is why what people most need is light. Jesus Christ, who is the light of life, came to drive away the darkness and emptiness that has existed from the beginning of creation (John 1:11). This light has come upon us; all we have to do is arise and shine (Isaiah 60:1).
1. Works will arise the moment the light shines upon a person
We may all have problems of darkness that we can’t tell anyone else. Everyone has spiritual problems like this, and they look for every opportunity to make us fall in the areas of our physical body, our mentality and in our lives. There is something that we must first do. We must lay our disbelief down before Christ, who is light. The moment we lay down our disbelief, this light will come upon us and many works will begin to arise. The works of true light arose the moment Abraham, Moses and the forefathers of faith laid their disbelief down before God. This is the reason why the lampstand inside of the tabernacle always had to stay lit. All we have to do is live our lives within the light of Jesus, who is life.
2. We must share this light with others
There are many people around us who don’t know this mystery of light and are wandering as a result. There are many people who are afflicted by spiritual problems such as addiction to games, alcohol and drugs. Almost everyone is imprisoned by the darkness. Even they need this light, because there is no way to solve these problems other than through the light. Relaying this light of life is evangelism. If we relay the light that we’ve experienced to others, we will understand the providence of God that led to the works of the exodus and the miracles in the wilderness. When we shine this light into today’s field and relay this light, the Holy Spirit inside of us will work in abundance.
3. We must illuminate this world with this light
Darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples. Darkness knows the power of light better than anything else. The forces of darkness have no choice but to crumble when this light shines. This light shined upon the prostitute Rahab, who lived in the city of Jericho. She hid the spies who had come to spy on the land, and all of the Israelites who chose faith instead of disbelief came to possess the land of Canaan. They changed the history of the world. The rumors of the light that is within us have already set the forces of darkness quaking in fear. We will live as main figures who will change the world if this lampstand is always lit within us.
