The mystery of prayer
Matthew 6:5~13 This then is how you should pray: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.” (9)
Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #361’Tis the Blessed Hour of Prayer (#480 in previous version)
As people who have the Gospel, we should never forget about prayer. Jesus Himself taught His disciples how to pray, though He didn’t teach them how to preach. Most people don’t enjoy prayer. If you don’t know how to pray and don’t enjoy it, one day you will be in trouble when problems come. Without prayer, people who suffer from spiritual problems cannot be healed, nor can incompetence be overcome. Clearly, we have been called as committed workers for God’s great work, so we must understand the three basics of prayer.
1. Three basics
It won’t be easy to start to pray all of a sudden. Instead, hold onto the Word and begin meditation. When you take hold of the pulpit message and meditate on it, great healing will take place, medically and scientifically. To hold onto the Word and meditate is the beginning of prayer. Next, pray in a realistic manner that matches your circumstances. Many people pray, but they don’t allow prayer to be a part of their lives. When prayer becomes part of the rhythm of your life, healing will take place and your life will be restored. Lastly, if you can meditate and really pray, enter into deep prayer. When you start doing this, spiritual problems will begin to be healed, incompetence will be resolved, and you will gain the strength to undertake a historic commission. This is what we call the filling of the Holy Spirit.
2. You will find prayer topics
If you continue to pray in this way, you will discover prayer topics through the answers you receive. This is when true answers begin to come. The prayer topics of the 7 Remnants who received answers to their prayers were not made by themselves, but granted to them by God during prayer. Jesus gave prayer topics to the 12 disciples, Paul and the 70 workers. If you have a prayer topic like this, amazing answers will begin to come.
3. We must share our prayer topics
Paul shared his prayer topic with the churches, and this lasted for 250 years until the gospelization of Rome. Sharing prayer topics means you are connected in prayer. You know about each other’s prayers. Sharing prayer topics with disciples is an important key to world evangelization.
● Forum Topic - Enjoying prayer the right way is the greatest source of power. Set aside your own time of prayer. Find your own prayer method. Enjoy your own filling of the Holy Spirit. Share your important prayer topics with your pastor, family and disciples and have forum with them.
