The patriotism and prayer of those who have the Gospel
Romans 13:1~7 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God (1)

Today’s Scripture reading, as well as 1 Timothy 2:1~2 and 1 Peter 2, say that we must pray for the leaders and submit ourselves to the governing authorities. You may have objections and ask if this is still the case if those authorities are evil or they hinder the Gospel. There are a few things that evangelists, who will save the world in difficult times and do world evangelization, must remember.
1. The governing authorities are established by God
God established the governing authorities. Though they may be evil and wicked, they cannot be in place unless by God’s plan. Not only that, our workplace, job and business are all given to us by God. We must do our best to change our field by receiving God’s power. Joseph went to Potiphar’s house as a slave, not because his brothers sold him, but because God sent him on ahead. All our fields are also provided by God for us evangelists. Though we may think that we go to school and study, it is actually God who is sending us to those places to do those things. All of our fields are given to us by God.
2. Reason why we must pray for evangelists
There exists a reason why we must pray for the authorities. God established the governing authorities and yet Satan attacks them. What would happen if a leader like David was put in charge? The people of that nation, as well as that nation itself, would come alive. Conversely, if a wicked leader comes to power, then many disasters and sufferings will follow. Satan goes inside the hearts of the wicked and does unimaginable things. Satan went inside the heart of Pharaoh and killed countless people; seized by Satan, King Ahab killed all the prophets. Looking at world history, we must remember that brutal wars and disasters broke out through leaders who were seized by Satan. That is why we must pray for our nation and for its leaders.
3. What must we do when Satan tries to steal what is God’s?
In each and every age, Satan tries to steal what is God’s by moving the hearts of leaders. Leaders in the past have forced people to bow down to the image of Zeus, coerced them to pay respects to Shinto shrines, and imposed the ideology of communism upon them. We ought to submit to the governing authorities because God has established them, but Korea’s spiritual forefathers defended their faith and died as martyrs when the authorities tried to steal what belonged to God. We must pray because Satan can work behind the authorities.
° Forum Topic - No matter how much success politicians and the authorities possess in the world, they will fail if they don’t have the Gospel. As the ones who have the Gospel, we must share the Gospel with them before they perish. That is why we try our best in our studies and prepare to live as elites. Let us confirm what kind of purpose we have in our lives.
