Renewal in 2,000 years
Acts 6:1~7 Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word." (3~4)
Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #490 There’s a Dream that I Dream (#542 in previous version)
During the past 2,000 years, the church has lost hold of the living evangelism field of the Early Church that is recorded in the Bible. In particular, most church lay leaders have lost hold of the blessings that belong to them; they are not standing in the field to find those who have been prepared to receive salvation, or the disciples who are going to save the age. Great miracles took place in every age that the servants of the Lord and the church lay leaders arose hand in hand. When this didn’t take place, wars broke out and countless disasters arose. We must restore the things written in the Bible.
1. What we must do first
We must maintain our life rhythm through scheduled prayer and continue to pray until answers come. Through continuous prayer, we must maintain the rhythm of our fields and discover answers there. Through worship prayer, we must maintain the rhythm of the Word and seek God’s plan. We must discover God’s plan through special prayer. We must experience God’s power and miracles through concentrated prayer. That is when we begin to receive the answers that we had not received up to now.
2. What was not restored for 2,000 years
We must restore the meaning of the church lay leader position, which was lost in the past 2,000 years. When Moses was in the wilderness, God gave him the Passover covenant of the blood sacrifice. The first people he relayed this covenant to were the elders. The elders, in turn, passed this covenant to the people. The Early Church raised church layleaders in each area and carried out the evangelism movement to save all the regions. Jesus raised 70 lay disciples along with the apostles. When church lay leaders arise and save the field, true evangelism and missions take place. The servants of the Lord must save people by proclaiming the Gospel on the pulpit, and the church lay leaders must save people with the Gospel in the field. This combination forms the church that will save the age. During the past 2,000 years, the church lost hold of its true role. When we restore this, the works of the Early Church will begin anew.
3. How can we restore this?
There is no other truth besides the Gospel. Success without the Gospel is not true success. The Gospel makes all things possible. If we firmly hold onto the covenant and don’t waver, we will truly be victorious. The field will live due to even one church lay leader who has the Gospel and faith; the pulpit will have life if one pastor truly has faith. We must fight against disbelief that may sound logical. Make an important resolution based on true faith today.
