Am I child of promise?
Romans 9:1~13 In other words, it is not the natural children who are God''s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham''s offspring. For this was how the promise was stated: "At the appointed time I will return, and Sarah will have a son." (8-9)
Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #267 ‘Tis the Promise of God (#201 in previous version)
We can be sure that God’s children are saved, and that Satan cannot defeat them. Yet, Satan attacks us when we lose assurance. Without assurance we begin to waver and the forces of darkness have a channel through which to attack. Satan roams around like a roaring lion looking for those in doubt. Our assurance needs to be solid so we don’t give Satan a foothold. Are we truly children of the promise? If we are, then what must we do?
1. We must know the promise of the Bible
To have assurance we must know the promise of the Bible. You are saved if you believe in this promise. Without the Holy Spirit, nobody can confess Jesus as Lord. If you believe this promise, you are a child of God. The world is lost in darkness, chaos, and emptiness. That is why God shined His light of life into the darkness. That light is Christ. It was promised that Christ would crush the head of the serpent. Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. To those who receive Him and believe in His name, God gives the right to become His children. You are a child of God if you believe this.
2. We must know why no one can separate us from Christ’s love
God called us before creation and prepared us from long ages past. Therefore, no one can separate us from the love of Christ. Though we are surrounded by severe persecution and curses, nothing is a problem for us. Salvation is God’s most absolute blessing.
3. We will come to know the important things of the future
God’s children come to know the important things of the future. The last days of true Israelites and Israelites by heritage are different. The true seed of Abraham and the seed of the flesh are different. Children of the flesh and children of the promise are different. Therefore there is no reason for God’s children to waver or fear, for God has guaranteed their future and guides them.
