Our habits, discipline and nature determines the direction of the rest of our lives. It is said that the Jewish people teach their children to establish a schedule for the tasks they must complete. Without fail, important people organize their lives and dictate a time and schedule for their daily tasks. They are so organized that it is considered extremely rude for a guest to visit unannounced. This means that they are good at managing their time. How must we hone and mold our natures within the Gospel for the sake of world evangelization?
1. We must not be dismayed until our nature takes its true form
It took a long time for even Jacob to change his nature (Genesis 32:23~32). Elisha followed his teacher Elijah and learned under him until the end (2 Kings 2:1~11). Mark was unreliable at first, but later became one of Paul’s most important disciples (Acts 15:36~41). Onesimus was a convicted criminal and a failure, but changed to become a person of the greatest success after meeting Paul (Philemon 1:1~25). The resurrected Jesus found Peter in the midst of great despair, and restored Peter Himself (John 2:15~18).
2. Seek after grace until the three natures take shape (2 Timothy 2:7)
First, we must establish a nature of prayer. If those of us with the Gospel are able to have a nature of prayer, we will be given the power to do world evangelization. If we possess a nature of prayer, we will understand the Bible as well. Second, we must have the nature of studying. Studying diligently is important, but periodic bursts of diligence cannot best a person with a nature of studying. Third, we must have a nature of evangelism. If we have the correct nature regarding evangelism instilled within us, we will be able to save whatever fields or people we encounter and change the entire world. If we begin to have just a little bit of a nature of evangelism, wisdom will arise as well. When evangelism is not a simple act for its own sake but rather an integral part of our lives and natures, important fruits will be borne. It’s important to have an everyday interest in the people we meet in our fields and a heart of wanting to bless them before relaying the Gospel to them during the right time schedule. Succeeding in this is God’s greatest method.
3. Let us have the nature of enjoying insight and wisdom
We must prepare while thinking of world evangelization. The Lord will give to us the wisdom we need. Until we have the nature to understand this, we must pray in peace. Only then will our entire past be a platform. Only then will our todays become the future. We must pull the future into our todays. At that time, amazing works will arise. That is the very nature we must all possess.
