Jesus Christ Who Walked on the Sea
Mark 6:45~52│ And after he had taken leave of them, he went up on the mountain to pray. And when evening came, the boat was out on the sea, and he was alone on the land. And he saw that they were making headway painfully, for the wind was against them. And about the fourth watch of the night (46-48)
After the disciples experienced the miracle of five loaves and two fish, they went out on a boat and faced a powerful storm at sea. In no time, they were engulfed in deep fear. In fact, they were so caught up in their circumstances that when they saw Jesus, they mistook Him for a ghost. There are times when gale force winds make you forget your covenant and your spiritual identity. In those times, what must you remember?
1. The Master and Supervisor of History
Jesus is the master of history, and He is the ruler of everything in the universe. Just as He walked on the sea to help His stranded and frightened disciples, He has come to you. Jesus said, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.” If you are in the midst of a terrible storm now, it is your opportunity to meet Jesus who calms everything around you.
2. The Mission from the Master of History
Living in today’s world, people are exposed to many words and information. Some of the information is accurate; however, the majority isn’t. The times and environment change. But only the Word of God is unchanging and eternal. When you hold onto God’s Word in the midst of a terrible storm, you will see the correct mission that you must accomplish now. Even now, God is with those who hold onto that mission in order to create a masterpiece.
Even though you have witnessed firsthand God’s amazing works, have you ever noticed a sense of dullness in your heart? If something other than the covenant still remains in your heart, you must quickly find it. When you first hold onto the spiritual essence of the covenant that will be fulfilled, you’ll save those souls stranded in the midst of terrible storms.
